Recently, we have completed a two and a half month’s stay at the St. Regis in Singapore. When we came to Singapore in early September for a routine checkup for my wife during her pregnancy, the doctor detected complications and strongly recommended to stay in Singapore with bedrest until the delivery. In that tense situation, we chose to stay in the St. Regis, as we expected to be in good hands. During this unusually long stay under unusually complicated circumstances, we have received not only the expected excellent professional service, but above all a highly unexpected personal warmth as if we would be welcomed by families of our own. While many of your collaborators have shown a very high level of professionalism and dedication to their work, some have gone the extra mile to create a really outstanding experience, namely: The head butler Priscilla, who has dedicated even personal time to make my wife feel comfortable, helped by the fact that as a Mexican compatriot, she understood her needs better than anyone else. Front desk manager Billy, who showed such a high level of enthusiasm to help us out with our needs that we felt part of the St. Regis family. Chef Fabio, who even designed a special menu for my wife with food items that specifically catered to her necessity. Chef Prabu, who as a new father showed so much empathy that he helped to motivate the breakfast and room service staff to fulfil our daily needs. We name these people as representatives for many others who went out of their way with little acts of help and whose names we did not always learn or remember, such as the lady at the egg station, the doormen who called the taxi and helped us store items, the butlers who brought us food every day and attended special requests, and many others. We have stayed in the hotel until the night before delivery of our son in November. We will keep the hotel and its staff in very high regard, and make sure to tell our son the unusual story of the time before his birth, and how so many people made us feel at home in a country where we previously did not know a single person.
